The Salcombe Brewery company started trading in September 2016.
Since the purchase of the Quercus brewery in Churchstow, Tom Madeiros our head brewer (from Boston, USA) has been able to experiment with different recipes to perfect our new cask ale range. These new beers were launched in the early Summer of 2016 and have been positively received by licensees and consumers alike.
The previous brewery was based in Churchstow – between Kingsbridge and Salcombe. It was a traditional 8 barrel brewery with 3 Fermenting vessels and can produce 20 barrels a week.
The new Salcombe Brewery, is a unique concept based on a decommissioned water reservoir utilising the ambient temperature of the underground facility and solar heating, making the brewery as energy efficient as possible. The brew house, is built on the footprint of the reservoir near Kingsbridge, overlooking the Salcombe Ria and the beautiful South Hams. It is a state of the art 20 barrel brewery with 4 fermenting vessels and we can now produce 80 barrels a week.
We are welcoming locals and visitors alike now the site is open for pre-booked brewery tours for those people interested in learning more about brewing or to visit our new shop, which is open throughout the week (10am – 4pm) and also on Saturdays (10am -2pm) where you can purchase our beers, gift packs and branded merchandise.
We are also happy to provide beer to weddings, parties, BBQs and other public events. We offer our cask range in a variety of polypins and casks size perfect for your event.
If you are really serious about learning the art of brewing you will be able to brew alongside our brew team on one of our Brew days.
